Dropbox Hiring Remote Media Director to Unite Brand & Performance

Dropbox is searching for a senior media leader to run its entire paid media operation — from brand awareness down to performance channels — under one roof.

Dropbox has posted a fully remote US-based opening for a Director of Media Strategy & Activation, a role that sits at the top of the company's paid media function. The position is unusually broad: whoever lands it will be responsible for both brand campaigns and performance marketing rather than the typical setup where those two worlds operate in separate silos.

The thinking behind combining them makes sense. When brand budgets and performance budgets answer to different leaders, investment decisions get made in isolation. Dropbox wants one person making the tradeoffs across the full funnel — paid search, paid social, programmatic, mobile, and whatever newer channels emerge — with a single view of what the money is actually doing for the business.

The role also carries responsibility for how the media team itself is structured. That means deciding what stays in-house, what goes to agency partners, and where specialist support makes more sense than building internal headcount. It's a genuine operating challenge, not just a strategy exercise.

Dropbox is specifically looking for someone who has worked on both sides of the industry — agency experience followed by an in-house media leadership role at a tech or high-growth company. That combination is harder to find than it sounds, which likely explains why the company is advertising it publicly rather than promoting from within.
